Timothy Kane Photography is based in Northeast Ohio, conveniently located near Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown. Timothy frequently travels to other cities in Ohio such as Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Toledo, and ventures into the adjacent states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, and Indiana as needed. Any excuse to travel is welcome...
Timothy first became serious about photography in high school where he took photography classes and subsequently became yearbook photo editor. He built and operated a darkroom at home. He had an opportunity to practice his craft as he lived in England, Switzerland, and Italy as a teenager and 20 something.
Timothy attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio where he studied architecture for two and a half years before changing majors and earning an honors degree in art history and then a masters degree in library science. While attending university, he worked in the Kent State University Museum as an exhibits assistant. He oversaw lighting and photography, constructed exhibits, and performed maintenance.
Timothy is a huge ice hockey fan. He enjoys watching, taking photographs of, writing about, and keeping up with the news of hockey. He has been to 20+ arenas (and counting) in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, and Indiana, and to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, and the Bell Centre in Montreal. The North American leagues he follows include: the professional NHL, AHL, ECHL, and IHL, and the junior OHL, USHL, CSHL, and NJHL, as well as college, high school, women, youth, etc.
More recently Timothy has become a fan of the resurgence of roller derby. He regularly attends and photographs bouts in the Cleveland and Akron areas.
